We love the big idea; we’re all about it. But details are imperative, especially when it comes to designing a shoe for the masses. It is very important to include all aspects of the design development for us to see the process and progression of your ideas. Some things get lost in translation from idea to design and we want to try and eliminate that issue.

Thus, in order to submit a design for ROOY Inc., it is important to meet each of the criteria:

Brainstorming
Concept and Branding
Sketching
Rendering
FinalDesign

We included samples from winning designer, Arsen Rock, to illustrate exactly what we mean.

Arsen included all of the above elements in his Song Seung Heon submission. Please take the time to see what we are looking for, as this will make everything run a lot smoother.

1.Brainstorming (Style and Concept): How did you arrive at your design? What were you inspired by? What trends are you drawing ideas from? We want to get an im pression of how you came to your final idea.











2.Concept and Branding (Logo): Each shoe should have a distinctive and original logo to brand it as its own. Include concepts and inspiration for your design







3.Sketching: We love seeing how you reworked an original idea into the final idea. What stayed and what didn’t, show us your work!










4.Rendering: Bringing that sketch to life, we want to see how you render your designs.



5.Final Design: The final design is the last step that comes if and after your design is chosen. This will be the final representation of the shoe that we will be manufacturing and selling.

Song Seung Heon Pre-Orders: See What You Can Get!

The time is almost here, the moment we’ve all been waiting for: the release of Song Seung Heon’s sneakers! Even though the shoes won’t be ready to be shipped out for another few months, that doesn’t mean we have to be sitting ducks while we wait.

Rooy Inc. is excited to announce that pre-orders for the sneakers will start in September! Not only does pre-ordering ensure that you will get a pair of the Song Seung Heon sneakers before they sell out, but it also means that you will get prizes for being one of the first to order!

As you know, we took a poll to see what pre-order incentives you wanted and these were the results:

1st: SSH’s signature
2nd: Key ring
3rd: Shoelace
4th: Shoe bag

We came up with a system to make those who order first happy, because as you know, the early bird gets the worm! This is how the breakdown will work:

The first 10 orders: SSH’s signature on the shoe, key ring and shoelaces
Orders 11-500: Key ring and shoelaces
Orders 501-1000: Shoelaces

What’s cool about the shoelaces is that a big Song Seung Heon fan, Yukiko Nakayama, designed them especially for these sneakers. Also, ALL pre-orders will receive the shoe bag that Arsen Rock designed to keep their sneakers in pristine condition.

Don’t forget to pre-order the SSH sneakers to guarantee yourself a pair! The goodies that come along with them don’t hurt either. Check back in September for more information on how to pre-order!

Even though Song Seung Heon has already picked the winner, we can’t reveal the winning design just yet! Until the final product comes out, we’re keeping it hush around here so, instead of killing you with anticipation, we thought of the next best thing; we’re going to show you the runner-ups that didn’t make it but definitely blew us away nonetheless!


This pair was designed by Sotiris Tasiopoulos. An awesome pair of high tops that we can totally see Song Seung Heon rocking. We can’t decide what we like best, the array of colors or the cool logo that Tasiopoulous created just for Song Seung Heon!
